Center for Crops Utilization Research
Darren became program manager for technology commercialization, marketing, and communications at the Center for Crops Utilization Research (CCUR) in 2008. He works with CCUR’s Biopolymers and Biocomposites Research Team that develops biorenewable polymers from Midwest crops, encourages bioplastics and biocomposites in industry, and researches new formulation and processing techniques. Since March 2009, Darren has managed communications and marketing for the BioCentury Research Farm. He is project director for the Iowa Alliance for Cooperative Business Development, a USDA rural cooperative development center. Darren’s past experience includes serving as program coordinator for CCUR and the Iowa State University Grain Quality Initiative; assistant certification manager and assistant secretary for the Iowa Crop Improvement Association; as well as experience in auto manufacturing and international agricultural research. His research and outreach interests are in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship, rural development, farm machinery sanitation, and biomass marketing and utilization.
