Microstructure of Zein-based Bioplastics

Zein proteins are capable of self-assembly and form a variety of structural morphologies. Such structures have different physical properties and show varied functionalities. Examples of structures are films, coatings, fibers, and sponges, which may have applications in packaging, biomaterials, and the encapsulation of food, pharmaceutical, and agricultural components.  The present report focuses on the study of microstructure and its ability to predict material performance..
