Rudy Pruszko is an Industrial Specialist with the Center for Industrial Research and Service at Iowa State University. He is currently serving as the Program Director for the USDA BioPreferred Program and managing Iowa State’s cooperative agreement with the USDA BioPreferred Program to develop and implement systems supporting Section 9002 of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 and the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008. Responsibilities include working with government officials, university faculty, staff and students, and private contractors to develop testing resources for biobased products, management procedures, and infrastructure for long-term program operation. Pruszko received a Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering from Penn State University and Master in Business Administration Degree from the University of Dubuque. He has held various management and engineering positions in industry for companies such as Sherwin Williams, FMC, and the John Deere Company.
USDA Certified Biobased Label and the BioPreferred Program
The presentation will provide a brief background of the BioPreferred® Program and the new USDA Labeling Program. It will answer the question, “What is the BioPreferred Program,” and discuss the Federal Procurement Preference Program, labeling initiative, and future issues associated with the programs. The benefits of attending the presentation is gaining knowledge about the various programs, how to improve the marketing of your products, how to obtain a USDA Certified Label, and what the future holds for the program.
